I'm getting an invalid filename message (PC)
If you are receiving a message stating “Invalid Filename” every few minutes, it may be an issue with SketchUp’s autosave feature.
SketchUp saves your files while you are working on them every five minutes by default. When you receive an Invalid Filename error, SketchUp was unable to auto-save the file to the default location.
On a PC, SketchUp saves autosaved files in the same folder where your model is saved. If you haven't saved your file yet, the default auto-save location is My Documents. You can change that location in SketchUp’s Preferences. This message appears when you don't have full write permissions to that default location.
To correct this issue, you can change the default location by following these steps:
- Click Windows > Preferences
- Click Files
- Use the options next to Models to change or open the file path listed.
