Creating Collections

You can create collections within your content library, or when viewing the models, collections, and materials you find in 3D Warehouse. For more information about collections, see Collections in 3D Warehouse. After you create a collection, you can add content. For more information about adding content, see Adding Content to Collections.

Creating a Collection in Your Content Library

To create a collection in the My Collections section of your content library, follow these steps:

Access your content library. For detailed information, see Accessing Your Content library.
Select My Collections. Your collections appear in the My Collections section.
Click Create New Collection (). The Create a Collection dialog appears.
Enter the collection title. The title you choose is the name that appears when you and other 3D Warehouse users search for or view your collection.
(Optional) Clear Select collection to private to make the collection public.
Click Create Collection. The Collection Details page appears.
(Optional) Enter more details about your collection, add a thumbnail image, and modify its settings. For more information about the Collection Details page, see Collection Details.

Note: The collection must have a title and one detail or modified setting to save it.
Click Save Changes. The collection will now appear in your content library under My Collections.

Creating a Collection While Browsing

You can create a collection from any model, material, or collection you open while browsing in 3D Warehouse.

For collections created this way, the only information to enter is the collection title. To enter detailed information, edit the collection. Learn about editing collections in Editing Collections. For more information about detailed collections information, see Collection Details.

Note: Creating a collection while browsing results in an empty collection. To add the content that you opened to create the new collection, click Collections, then select Add to Collection and the new collection from the list.

To create a collection while browsing in 3D Warehouse, follow these steps:

Select content in 3D Warehouse and open its Details page.
Click Collections () and select Create New Collection.
Enter the collection name in the Create a Collection dialog.
(Optional) Clear Select collection to private to make the collection public.
Click Create Collection. A blank tile for the collection will appear in the My Collections section of your content library. A thumbnail will appear when you add content to it, such as a model, collection, or material.
