Importing a 3D Model

With the Import (icon import go) option, available in the Main Menu (go icon main menu.png), you can import other 3D models of the following file types into your SketchUp model:
  • .skp

  • .3ds

  • .dae

  • .dwg

  • .dxf

  • .kmz

  • .stl

When you attempt to import a 3D file, SketchUp will prompt you to download it as a component. Once imported, you can edit or change it just like you would any other component.

Importing a 2D File

You can also import the following 2D file types:

  • .ddf (web-only)

  • .dem (web-only)

  • .dwg

  • .dxf

  • .jpg

  • .pdf

  • .png

  • .bmp, .eps, .psd, .tga, .tif (iPad-only)

When you attempt to import a 2D file through the web app, SketchUp will prompt you to save it as an image or material.

Through the iPad app, use the Insert Image tool to import an image file as a material or object. For PDF and other supported 2D file formats, select Import (icon import go) on the Main Menu (go icon main menu.png).
