SketchUp AI amplifies existing workflows with trusted AI tools, providing simplified modeling, visualization, and navigation across all SketchUp products. To help you learn more about what SketchUp AI is, and what it can bring to your workflows, take a look at these frequently asked questions.
Trimble Credits provide access to products, features, and AI capabilities for all Trimble products, including SketchUp. There are two types of Trimble Credits—Plan Credits and Purchased Credits.
SketchUp’s AI Credits are now Trimble Credits. Trimble Credits can be used just like AI Credits were in all SketchUp AI features.
Since you can now purchase Trimble Credits as needed, the SketchUp AI Subscription is no longer necessary. If you have a SketchUp AI Subscription, it will not renew on your renewal date.
Each SketchUp subscription tier provides a set number of Trimble Credits per month, which are known as Plan Credits. See Trimble Credits for details about how Trimble Credits work in SketchUp.
If you need more credits than what your subscription offers, Account Owners can purchase additional Trimble Credits, known as Purchased Credits, in-app or from the Admin Console. See Trimble Help for information on purchasing additional Trimble Credits.
Purchased Trimble Credits cost $0.01 per credit. When purchasing Trimble Credits, the minimum purchase amount is $20.00, or 2000 credits.
If you purchased Trimble Credits and haven’t used them, you can cancel your purchase and receive a refund of the purchase amount within 14 days of initiating the purchase.
Trimble Credits are non-refundable.
Successful output depends on the strength of the prompt you use. SketchUp cannot guarantee a generated result will always match your expectations. See Best Practices for Custom Prompts for some helpful tips on how to craft a great prompt that’s more likely to generate the output you want and get the most out of your credits.
Plan Credits included in your subscription do not roll over to the next month. Your allotted Trimble Credit balance resets monthly on your renewal date. Purchased Credits expire 365 days after purchase.
At this time, SketchUp offers two AI features:
AI Render – Use generative AI to combine your model with a prompt to create conceptual or realistic imagery, added to your model as a photo-matched scene.
AI Assistant – An in-app AI-powered assistant with two main features – Help and Generate Object:
Help answers your questions about SketchUp using sources like the SketchUp Help Center.
Generate Object creates 3D geometry from a source image you provide or a text prompt.
SketchUp’s AI tools are built-in and ready to use on both SketchUp for iPad and SketchUp for Web. In SketchUp for Desktop, AI features are pre-installed extensions.
SketchUp Assistant’s Help feature is free for everyone, including those using SketchUp for Web without a paid subscription. All other AI features require a SketchUp subscription to use along with Trimble Credits.
Yes. All extensions hosted on Extension Warehouse are compatible with all supported versions of SketchUp. Since SketchUp for Desktop’s AI features are extensions, they will work with any supported version. For more information about supported versions of SketchUp, see End of Support Policy.
SketchUp’s AI features only support English at this time. The Help Assistant uses the SketchUp Help Center as a source and may be able to provide answers in other languages if the source material was also localized.
