Scanning a Room
After opening Scan Space and granting permissions, you can begin scanning using Quest’s native scanning interface. The instructions you see will vary based on which device you are using and the OS version that device is running.
Meta Quest 3 & 3S
Meta Quest 3 and 3S devices support automatic space scanning. That means you only need to look around and your device will create a 3D model of your surroundings without any additional input.
Once your device has enough data, a notification appears letting you know the scan is complete. Click Continue to keep editing your space using SketchUp Viewer’s edit options.
Meta Quest 2 & Pro
Meta Quest 2 and Pro devices support manual space scanning. This means when you start scanning, Passthrough will be enabled. You will then have to manually trace the walls of your room and outline elements like doors, windows, furniture, storage, and wall art.
Finalizing Your Scan
After completing your scan you can go back and further adjust your data by selecting any captured items. You can change an item’s dimensions, type, or even delete them.
Once you are satisfied with your scan, click Finish. SketchUp Viewer will display a preview of your space relative to your position in the room. Click Confirm to finalize your scan, or click Cancel to restart the process.
