What is SketchUp for Schools?

SketchUp for Schools is a free, web-based 3D modeling app available to primary and secondary schools through the Google and Microsoft Education platforms. The SketchUp for Schools app is compatible with Chromebooks and other web enabled devices and features a built-in curriculum to help both students and teachers confidently improve their 3D modeling skills.

Who can use SketchUp for Schools?

Sketchup for Schools is free for any primary or secondary school (K-12) enrolled with Google or Microsoft for Education.

What is the difference between SketchUp for Schools, SketchUp for Higher Education, and other SketchUp offerings?

My school requires that users are identified according to an over/under 18 age restriction. Is SketchUp for Schools appropriate for users under 18 years of age?

Yes. SketchUp for Schools is designed for primary and secondary (K-12) students and teachers, and is COPPA compliant.

Can a teacher accept application permissions on behalf of a student?

Application permissions can only be granted by the domain administrator.

Data Privacy

Does Sketchup for Schools comply with COPPA and other US federal student privacy regulations?

Yes, SketchUp for Schools is COPPA compliant and does not store any personally identifiable information (PII) and does not transmit any user data to third party applications.

Does Sketchup for Schools comply with GDPR requirements?

Do I need a Data Privacy Agreement to use SketchUp for Schools?

Why does SketchUp for Schools ask for permission to access my Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive account?

In order to save and retrieve the project files that you have created, SketchUp for Schools requires permission to access your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive account. SketchUp for Schools will not open, modify or delete files in Google Drive or OneDrive without user input.
