Troubleshooting Connectivity Issues

Last updated: Jul 1, 20262 min read.

The following SketchUp features require an internet connection:

  • 3D Warehouse

  • Extension Warehouse

  • SketchUp for Web

  • Add Location

  • AI Render

  • SketchUp’s AI Assistant

  • Trimble Connect

  • Studio Subscription Features

If you are having a problem with a feature you use in a web browser, like SketchUp for Web, use the following troubleshooting techniques:

  • Use a supported web browser – SketchUp supports Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

  • Update your default browser to the latest version – Check your browser settings for updates and make sure you are using the latest version.

  • Clear browser cache and cookies – Clearing the cache and cookies of your web browser’s settings can often help resolve many connectivity issues.

  • Adjust the default browser security settings – Custom or higher browser security settings can restrict access to functionality. In your browser security settings, choose Medium instead of High.

If you are having trouble connecting to any online in either Sketchup or your web browser features, try these troubleshooting techniques:

  • Check your Internet settings – Antivirus, VPN, proxy server, or firewall settings may block SketchUp’s access to the internet. Try disabling each one and trying to connect. If you still can’t connect, access the settings for each security solution and make sure the following ports and domains aren’t blocked:

  • Clear the Windows DNS cache – Sometimes Windows stores information about internet activity. In Windows, open Command Prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns to initiate the process.

  • Try another network – Using a mobile hotspot or a different network can be a good test to see if the issue is localized to the computer or the current network.
