Spatial Preview

Last updated: nov. 6, 2026•2 p read.

Spatial Preview is a SketchUp extension for MacOS that streams a SketchUp model to your Apple Vision Pro. The Spatial Preview extension offers:

  • Experience-based design – For large scale designs, the virtual environment lets you walk through a model and check sightlines and clearances before you build.

  • Human-scale prototyping – Viewing smaller scale designs on a 1:1 perspective can help with ergonomics, proportions, and lighting.

  • A MacOS device with MacOS 27 or newer

  • SketchUp 2026 or newer

  • An Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27 or newer

Before you begin, make sure you are logged into your Mac and the Vision Pro with the same Apple ID. To get started with Spatial Preview, follow these steps:

Known Issues

Spatial Preview is a SketchUp Labs feature and still a work in progress. You may encounter the following issues:

  • Larger complex models may fail to load in the headset. Apple recommends you only attempt to view models with less than 250,000 triangles.

  • New materials added to a model already streaming to a headset may sometimes appear as black or override default materials and require restarting the preview to fix.
