Duplicating with Copy Along

Last updated: říj 21, 2026•2 min read.

Procedural Copy Along places copies of Groups or Components along a path with editable spacing, creating a non-destructive Procedural Component. You can then edit the path, the placed object, or the controls of the resulting component from Entity Info.

Copy Along has three placement modes with specific behaviors:

  • Entire Path (icon copy along) – Copies a selected component along an entire path.

  • Each Segment (icon copy along segments) – Copies the selected component to the individual segments along a path.

  • On Corners (icon copy along on corners) – Copies the selected component to a path’s corners.

For all modes, follow these steps to copy a component:

  1. Activate the Copy Along tool you want to use.

  2. If you have already selected a component, move on to step 3. Otherwise, select the component you want to copy.

  3. Move the cursor along the edge where you want copies of the component to appear.

  4. Clicking again sets the copies along that path and creates a non-destructive procedural component.

After the Copy Along operation completes, double-clicking the created procedural component opens the component, allowing you to make edits to the original component or adjusting the path for the copies.. For more information about editing components, see Editing Components.

When editing a procedural component, the following options are available in Entity Info:

  • Placement Mode – A dropdown allowing you to switch between Copy Along placement modes.

  • Distribution (Each Segment and Entire Path mode only)  – Controls how copies are distributed along the path. You can choose from the following options:

    • By Count – Evenly distributes a set number of copies along the path.

    • By Distance – Distributes a copy at each specified distance interval along the path, even if they overlap.

    • By Gap – Distributes a number copies along the path based on the gap between each copy.

  • Orientation – Choose between Stairlike (Yaw Only) or Roadlike (Yaw & Pitch).

  • Margin Mode (Each Segment only)  – Choose between Absolute or Relative.
