AutoFit Live Components

Placing Live Components is simple with SketchUp’s AutoFit feature. If a component can be AutoFit, you can drag it from the Components panel and place it on a flat face in your model. Once placed, the component adapts its size and shape to fit the face you place it on.

ToAutoFit a component: 

1. In the Components panel, locate and select the component you want to place in your model. 

2. Drag the component from the panel into the modeling window. 

3. Hover over the face you want to place the component on. A highlight appears indicating your component can be AutoFit to that face. 

4. Drop the component on the face.

5. Adjust the origin point and orientation of the component.

   

6. Click again to confirm the orientation of the component. 

7. If you need to refit your component, context-click the AutoFit component and select Refit Live Component.
