Last updated: sep. 15, 20263 min read.

SketchUp for Higher Education is available for both students and educators who want to explore the possibilities of 3D design while building in-demand skills for the real world. Before you purchase SketchUp for Higher Education, you’ll need to verify you are currently enrolled in a degree or certificate-granting, accredited school or an employee of one.

Purchasing from a Reseller

SketchUp has a global network of authorized resellers that offer SketchUp for Higher Education for students, faculty, and institutions. When you purchase SketchUp for Education from an authorized reseller, they are responsible for making sure you are eligible. The Find a SketchUp Reseller page can help you find a reseller in your area.

Purchasing from Trimble

Students and faculty can purchase SketchUp for Higher Education directly from Trimble on the SketchUp for Higher Education page. Trimble uses SheerID, a third-party partner contracted by Trimble, to verify your eligibility. Any information you submit is only used for this verification.

During the purchase process, SheerID will ask for the following:

  • Country

  • School

  • Legal Name

  • Date of Birth

  • Your School Email Address

  • Graduation Date (Student only)

Most verification takes about 30 seconds. Once verified, you can continue with your purchase.

In some cases, additional documentation may be required. When it’s necessary, a window will appear asking you to upload documents to confirm your eligibility.

Once verified, you can complete your purchase. If you don’t complete your purchase at this time, your verification will remain valid for up to one year for students, and two years for educators.

After you complete your purchase, students will remain verified for one year. Faculty members will remain verified for two years. When you attempt to renew your plan, SketchUp will automatically check the status of your verification. During renewal you may be asked to enter information again if we are unable to verify you automatically.

Failed Verification

If verification fails, you can attempt the verification process up to three times. Verification can fail if you’ve entered in the wrong information, or the information you have provided doesn’t match SheerID’s records. After a third failed attempt, you’ll need to contact SheerID support.
