Communicating Your Designs
After you create a 3D model, you may need to share your design with others. SketchUp offers a few tools and features to help you share and communicate your models:
- Sending a Model to LayOut – LayOut and Sketchup are designed to work together. LayOut is a great way to make high-quality documents and presentations that incorporate your Sketchup models.
- Using Trimble Connect with SketchUp – Trimble Connect is made with collaboration in mind. Not only can you organize your files, but you can share them with stakeholders, even those without a SketchUp subscription.
- Slicing a Model to Peer Inside – Learn how to create section planes to help you get the right view of a model without moving or hiding geometry. Section planes are a great way to show off the details in your models.
- Walking Through a Model – SketchUp provides tools that can help you simulate being inside your model and can provide added context when presenting it.
- Creating Scenes – Scenes help you save different model views and properties and are great when you want to focus on a certain angle or specific features in your design.
- Animating Scenes – Once you have created scenes, SketchUp can help you create an animated slideshow you can share or present.
- Casting Real-World Shadows – Learn how to enable shadows in your model, and adjust how they appear.
- Using the Credits Feature – When you create something, you of course want the credit. Learn how to use Credits to make sure you are credited for the designs you create.
- Printing Views of SketchUp Models – Learn how to print a 2D view of your model.
- 3D Printing a Model – Learn a few things to keep in mind when using a 3D printer to make a representation of your model.
- 3D Warehouse – In addition to the tools and features in SketchUp, you can also share what you create with others in the SketchUp community.
