How do I show or hide toolbars?

NOTICE: SketchUp 2015 is here! When you look at this Knowledge Center article, be sure to pick "SketchUp 2015" from the red box above to see the 2015 version of that content. If there is no version picker, this content applies to all versions of SketchUp.

SketchUp is installed with a special "Getting Started" toolbar enabled, which has only the most commonly used tools on it. As you become more proficient with SketchUp, you may want to enable other toolbars and hide the default toolbar.

To show or hide toolbars:

  1. In SketchUp, open the "View" menu.
  2. Point at "Toolbars."
  3. To show a toolbar, click it so that a check mark is displayed to the left of it.
  4. To hide a toolbar, click it so that the check mark is cleared.

Note: The tool buttons on the "Getting Started" toolbar in SketchUp are also included on the standard toolbars. If you show all the standard toolbars, you'll probably want to hide the "Getting Started" toolbar, since all the tool buttons on it will be duplicates.
